Toddler Ideas Tuesday: February 18th, 2014

Photobucket

Welcome back to Toddler Idea Tuesdays! Have you been busy with your young children?

This past week we didn't do much besides Valentine's related crafts. All of the things we made were appropriate for Harold to join in with.

We made our Valentine's Day Mailboxes. We have been making these for 2-3 years now. On Valentine's Day morning the children wake up to these at their spots at the table. You can find the tutorial for making them here.

The children each made a card for daddy. I liked the idea of arranging their hands so the center would form a heart. I am not sure where the idea originally came from as when I searched Google Images there were many different variations of this. For the older children I painted both their hands red and had them place them on the paper, however, for Harold's card I did one hand at a time, washing the paint off the one before doing the other. Definitely easier to arrange one hand instead of two, and I had better control which is imperative when it comes to paint.

In co-op we made these cute Heart Mice. There are many sites on the internet to find Heart Animals, this is where I found this one. A simple craft for little ones.

Now onto:

Toddler Idea Tuesday Features

Once again I enjoyed the different posts that were shared last week. Here is a bit of a highlight.

Jen, over at Chestnut Grove Academy, shared some wonderful ideas for a Space Unit suitable for children ages 2-6. From a space sensory bin and moon painting to math with star stickers there was so much hands-on learning going on.

Lisa, over at Our Country Road, shared her wrap up post focusing on the letter D: Duck. If you are looking for some fun ideas focusing on birds you will want to check it out.

Hannah, from Like Mama~Like Daughter, shared some of the happenings in her classroom along with some fun activities to go with K:Kiwi.

The Two Most Popular Posts

This week there were two posts that received the highest number of clicks.

Monique from Living, Life & Learning shared Fun Toddler Activities. There are some fun and frugal ways to keep toddlers busy while you are schooling older children. I love all the fine-motor skill ideas, some of which we have already been doing, but she has given me some great new ideas.

Jen from Thou Shall Not Whine shared 7 Ways to Keep the Littles Busy {While the Bigs Do School}. Several great ideas were shared along with a link to make Moon Dough which I can't wait to try out.

What sort of activities do you do with your toddler? Do you have some favorite activities you would like to share? I invite you to link up below. I will be pinning posts on my Toddler Ideas board and I would love to feature some of the activities each week from what is linked up. Please know I will share a picture from your post and link back to it, along with sharing how we used your idea in our toddler time. By linking up you are giving me permission to use a picture from your post. I will ALWAYS give credit and link back. Additionally, if you choose to try out any of the ideas with your toddler, please make sure you give credit where credit is due.

  2. Those heart mice are so cute! I find it hard to do activities that are appropriate for a 4 year old and 19 month old, as the younger one prefers to eat the crayons rather than raw with them.
